Loving The Night Life At Bukit Bintang
November 25th, 2008 by Kitci Wong
Anyone who has been to Kuala Lumpur (KL) would surely have heard of Bukit Bintang, or more popularly referred to as the Bintang Walk. It is located in what is called the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur. You can get to Bukit Bintang by taking a taxi, by bus or by taking the train.
It is the ultimate place to be and be seen when it comes to the KL night life. It is the center of KL’s night entertainment and recreation. If you stroll along Bintang Walk, you will be greeted by glitzy lights and a multitude of international restaurants and pubs that line the entire street.
The pulsating night life here is enjoyed so much by so many people. You will see locals and mostly visiting foreigners who are staying in hotels located along Bukit Bintang. These are just some hotels that you can stay in if you prefer to stay close to where the action is: Alpha Genesis Hotel, Grand Millenium Kuala Lumpur, Capitol Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Nova Hotel Kuala Lumpur, or the Royale Bintang Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
There will be no dull moment spent at the Bintang Walk with the different forms of entertainment and activities that are just within your reach.
DINE IN RESTAURANTS
There are plenty of places to eat along Bukit Bintang. You can try some local cuisines that are quite affordable and you can also splurge on fine dining restaurants. Most of these restaurants are open during the day but become livelier with the throbbing music that gets louder at night.
There are restaurants that serve whatever cuisine that you could be craving for. There is Mexican, Japanese, Italian, Korean, etc. You can try Bangkok Jam which is a Thai Restaurant that offers great Thai cuisine and entertainment. You can try their mango salad, green curry chicken, etc.
GO TO PUBS AND BARS
When it comes to pubs and bars, the most popular along Bukit Bintang would have to be the international franchise of Planet Hollywood. This establishment is known for serving great American food and at the same time prepare the latest alcoholic concoctions for its guests. International celebrities also tend to choose Planet Hollywood as the venue for their live performances. Of course, there are also performances from local groups and live bands every night.
You might want to check out another extraordinary pub called Blue Boy. Blue Boy is extraordinary in the sense that it is considered as Malaysia’s oldest gay club. It has been around for around twenty years already. It is quite popular and can be crowded with people at night most especially during weekends. Customers are mostly young Asians and older foreigners.
There is another Western pub called Carnegie’s if you have already had your fill of Planet Hollywood. At Carnegie’s, they play Rock N’ Roll and R&B music. If you feel like listening to go to a pub with some Latin vibe then Qba is perfect for you. There are live bands and can definitely help you relax through their warm ambience and impressive liquor concoctions. They are known for their Mojitos which is a kind of Cuban cocktail drink.
SING AT KARAOKE LOUNGES
There was a time a couple of years back when karaoke only meant simple booths where you can sit around and sing your favorite songs. These days, karaoke has been promoted a notch higher as fully developed Karaoke entertainment outlets are now available. Karaoke private rooms, also known as Karaoke Lounges, are already serving sumptuous food items than can be as simple as chips, fries, etc or can also be as complicated as full meals. Furthermore, guests can now enjoy some alcoholic drinks like beer, cocktails or hard liquor while they spend time bonding with their friends in the karaoke lounges.
These karaoke lounges are favorite hang out places of college students and young professionals who would like to loosen up after a hard day’s work. Regular patrons can choose from thousands of songs including not only English songs that are top listing in billboard charts but also songs from other Asian countries like China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Korea, Japan, and local Malay songs.
One of the popular karaoke lounges along Bukit Bintang is the Red Box which is located along Low Yat Plaza. The brightly colored modern decor sets a perfect atmosphere for an hour or two of karaoke sessions. Another popular karaoke lounge called Neway can be found in a nearby shopping center, Berjaya Times Square. Just like the Red Box, Neway also has an impressive selection of songs and offers a delectable set of food items that are presented buffet style for the guests. There are rooms that are big enough to accommodate big groups.
Bukit Bintang truly provides endless possibilities when it comes to night entertainment. When the sun sets, the entire Bintang Walk comes alive each and every night inviting everyone to sit down and be captivated.
