Nocturnal Excursion
April 30th, 2008 by Kuwahara YamiIt’s 12am in Tokyo. You’re itching for the nightlife but all the bars you go to are now closed. Where do you go then? Where else but Roppongi. Roppongi is exactly where you want to be when you want to go out at night, with its many establishments open until the first trains start their first trips.
Roppongi is filled with restaurants, clubs, discos and bars to satisfy even the wildest party animal, with restaurant prices ranging from ¥150 to ¥30000($1.50 to $290) and bar prices from ¥400 to ¥5000($4 to $50). Among the numerous bars in the area, one of note is the Lexington Queen. This bar which features a wide variety of music, is usually dominated by a young crowd. If you’re looking for something more upscale and mature, try going to Heartland. Located at the bottom of Mori Tower, this bar’s patrons are usually attired in business suits. There is also no entrance fee for this bar. And if you’re checking out bars, you might as well go to Absolut Icebar Tokyo. With walls, bars, tables and even your own glass made out of crystal clear ice, if you’ve ever dreamed of being in an ice palace this is the next best thing.
Everything is ice!!
If you ever feel the need to eat while in Roppongi, there are a slew of restaurants around the area ranging from the cheap to the most expensive. Among the numerous restaurants, fast food chains are also on hand such as Subway and McDonald’s. Some places worth noting are Raj Mahal, Tony Roma’s and Manga Hiroba. Raj Mahal offers authentic Indian cuisine of excellent quality for a reasonable price. Tony Roma’s makes you forget that you are in Japan and brings you to Texas, with their excellent ribs and a huge helpings of dessert. Manga Hiroba is not your typical restaurant, it’s a manga cafe. This cafe is open 24 hours a day with over 100 PC stations with comfy leather chairs for net surfing or sleeping, with a free drink bar with hot and cold drinks. With a friendly staff that speaks limited English; books, dvds and of course manga are readily available. There is also another Manga Hiroba in Shibuya.
Bookworms love this!
So if you ever get the need to stay out until 4 or 5 am, come on down to Roppongi and get your fill of the Tokyo nightlife. In this area of Japan, you won’t feel the need t o utter Oyasumi!

Sample rural bliss in one of the most beautiful lakes in Southeast Asia. Myanmar’s Inle Lake is lush, pristine with its charming paddy fields and floating villages.
