Footbinding of women is to ensure that they have small feet. The Chinese used to believe that the smaller the feet of the woman, the , ore beautiful she is, hence , more attractive to males (for choosing a woman to marry). I’m not too sure but I’ve also heard that feet that are small and bound would prevent women from walking fast or running (hence the slow sexy walk) to make them more demure.
